Christmas Tree Festival
5-8 December 2008

This year's festival was another great success. The church was filled with over 60 Christmas trees each decorated by a different group, society, business or individual.

Best Tree Overall: 4th Epping Brownies

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow

Best School Tree: Ivy Chimneys Primary School

A "Green" Tree

Best Local Business: Gane  Jackson Scott

 A Fairytale Christmas

Best Community Tree: Friends of Swaines Green

We counted over 2,000 adults through the doors over the weekend and estimate that nearly 4,500 people saw the festival this year, when children and school visits were included.

New for this year were cribs made by local children's groups, including nurseries, Cubs Brownies, church groups and schools:

Theydon Garnon Children's Church

one of the cribs from Coopersale Hall School

The money this year is to be split between two causes:
The Box - a volunteer-run centre on the High Street which provides a place for young people to meet, socialise, do homework, use computers or see a counsellor.  The Box also provides an alternative education for a number of young people.

The Box tree was highly commended

Hold on to your Hats

St John's Church which continues to improve access to church, maintain the building and pay its way in the Diocese.

Thank you

Thank you to everyone involved this year, those who set up and packed away, the stewards and all those who made cakes or served on the refreshments or other stalls.
