The CTED Walk of Witness in the High Street on Good Friday morning saw around 150 people come together to walk through the town...

...and watch a series of dramas... Each scene told of a different event in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus...

We made a stirring procession as we walked slowly down the High Street ...

... to the sound of a muffled drum ...

"And there He hung for three hours before He finally gave up the ghost..."

"Then he broke the bread and gave it to us and suddenly we recognized him... - we realised that he was Jesus..."

The Easter Vigil

We began our Paschal celebration on Holy Saturday evening; blessing ... ... and lighting the Paschal candle at the bonfire outside before processing into the darkened church. The Easter Proclamation was sung ... .. and before we renewed our Baptismal vows at the Font a new jug was dedicated.

The Dawn Service

First blessing the Paschal candle and inserting the five nails,

... before lighting it from the Easter Bonfire

... the Paschal Candle was processed into the dark church to the chant of The Light of Christ ..

Four candles were lit from the Paschal Candle and sent out to the team churches St Alban's, Coopersale; All Saints', Epping Upland ...

... St John's, Epping and All Saints', Theydon Garnon.

Easter Day

The church looked wonderful on Easter morning - and the Flower Guild had been hard at work: from exuberant Easter lilies in the font ... ... to green crosses with lilies on all the pillars ... ...to a contemplative Easter Cross in the Sanctuary...


For Holy Week, the frontals change to the Passion Frontals with red embroidery on unbleached linen and the triptych is closed.	Altar of repose - the focus of the Maundy Thursday Vigil
