Ordinations from the Team - 2008 and 2009

fostering vocations...

28 June 2009 sees Gill, Shaun and Sally ordained as priests after their ordination as deacons on 29 June 2008, when these three long-standing members of the Team left the Epping Team to begin new ministries as deacons.  Our prayers go with Gill and Sally and Shaun as they embark on this exciting new phase of their lives and we give thanks for all that they have contributed to the life of the team over the past years.

Geoffrey wrote in 2008:

"29 June is an especially joyful day for us. Gill, Sally and Shaun will offer themselves to God’s service in a new way when they are ordained as deacons. Each of them has travelled a different faith journey but there is a common factor in that journey. For a time and a space they shared our life in the Epping District Team Ministry and in the life of St. John’s. From this shared life they drew inspiration, strength and confidence. They discovered more deeply the love of God for them as it was given through our Christian community life. When they go forward for ordination they will take with them something of being part of our faith journey here. They will take many moments when God spoke to their hearts in the midst of living out the Gospel with us. There is a sense, then, that we go with them and as they are now given to the Church in a wider way—they will minister in new places—so we are sending them out from our midst. They are therefore a significant part in our community vocation story. They go surrounded by our love and our prayers. They are part of the fruit of vocation we are offering to the Church."
