Christmas Day

Readings:

Luke 2: 8-20

Gifts for Jesus

Well the shepherds may have left a lamb as a gift, although the Bible does not tell us that.  However, we do know from today’s reading that the Shepherds did give very special gifts to Jesus, and to the whole world.  Firstly, they were obedient to the message from the angels and went to look for Jesus.  They believed what they saw and heard and they told Mary and Joseph all about it.  Then they went out and shared their joy by telling everyone they met about what had happened, and praised God for what He had done.

This morning we continue to praise God for the miracle of Jesus birth.  We thank Him for His Son who gives us : Friendship; Forgiveness; Salvation; The Word; Spiritual Gifts; Life; Joy; Family; Hope.  May we all take time today, and over the coming weeks, to think carefully about what we can give Him to show that we love Him.

We can :

Praise Him with the energy of the Shepherds.

Tell someone how much Jesus loves them no matter what.

Turn to Jesus first in all that we think and do, and trust Him.

When He asks us to do something, we can do it without delay.

Do all things with a servant’s heart ,for our King who lay in a humble manger.

Share our blessings and riches with those who need help.

Speak out for those who are not treated fairly.

Above all, whatever we give to Jesus, we can give our very best because He deserves no less.

Amen.
