Seder - A Passover Meal

The church holds a Seder occasionally, when Passover is a month later Maundy Thursday.  It is a social event, but also aims to help us understand the Passover meal.  In 2008, Easter was in March, and the Seder was held in April.

The Hebrew blessing before the lighting of the candles ... ... lighting the candles, traditionally done by a woman. The First Cup, the Kiddush, the cup of sanctification ... ... the parsley or Karpas
The Matzah - why do we eat unleavened bread? Maror - the bitter herbs - amongst the other elements of the meal.  The Hagigah - egg in salt water was the first course of the meal, which continued with meatballs or vegetarian goulash After the traditional Passover sweets, the child who found the Afikomen was rewarded.

Jazz Concert

May 2008 brought a Dixieland Jazz concert to St John's John Petters' drum solo   ... and the banjo player in full swing.

Art Exhibition

In November, Epping Art Society held their annual exhibition in the North Aisle of the church.  The pictures hung in the section facing east and running up towards the organ. The mosaic pictures this year were based on two Gauguin paintings.  They are made by different artists painting a section in their own style, then the being put together.
