Tree Festival 2009

On Friday, Epping Town Council laid on a Magical Christmas, including market stalls, entertainers and Santa's grotto at the fire station.
The view up the South Aisle, the first stage on the route around the church at the end of Friday.  This shows the full length of the avenue of trees in one aisle The view down the North Aisle, looking up towards the organ.

There were nativity scenes along the choir stalls in the chancel.  One showed the shepherds on the hillside. Ivy Chimneys Primary School produced a traditional nativity scene
Theydon Garnon Children's Church produced a two storey crib, contrasting a traditional nativity with a family Christmas Little Lambs, the group for children under four at St John's Church also produced a nativity scene.
There was a knitted nativity scene on the altar, ... ... much admired throughout the festival. The trees alongside the organ, part way round the route around the church.

There was a school choir singing on the Saturday morning which was very popular. The very popular refreshment area in action.  This year, with the weather being unpleasant, it was busier than ever.
The lighting of the tree lights from the Light up a Life service on Saturday afternoon. Epping Forest Band playing at a concert on Saturday night - surrounded by Christmas trees. The procession into Choral Evensong along the avenue of trees in the south aisle.
The winning tree overall was The Holly and the Ivy by the Bell Common book club. Details of the tree, showing the words of the carol and decorations of holly and ivy. The winning Community Group was the Breast Cancer tree, called Together. The close up shows the sparkly ribbons tied on to remember people.
The winning school tree came from Coopersale Hall School. This tree was based on mathematical work in the school across the years. The winning Business Tree was, like last year, created by GaneJacksonScott Entitled 'Santa's Little Helpers', it was decorated with 'elves handmade by the girls'.
